As the second-largest road commission in Michigan, the KCRC plays a critical role in maintaining a large network of roads, including:

  • Serving over 670,000 county residents across 21 townships
  • Maintaining approximately 2000 miles (4200 lane miles) of roads
  • Overseeing nearly 170 bridges
  • Managing over 120 traffic signals and 30,000 traffic signs

The KCRC and township work closely on projects ranging from routine pothole repairs and repaving to major road expansions. Additionally, the KCRC and Plainfield Township engage in strategic planning to align future infrastructure projects with the township's growth and development vision—like the Three-Year Road Plan to coordinate projects and limit disruption. The partnership also allows for greater cost-effectiveness in projects, optimizing taxpayer dollars.
