Picture ID is REQUIRED in order to vote:
Voter identification requirements are in effect. Every Michigan voter who wishes to vote in the polls must comply with the requirement by showing a picture ID or signing an affidavit attesting that you are not in possession of a picture ID. For more information visit www.michigan.gov/vote.

Electronic Poll Books
Plainfield Township has implemented the Electronic Poll Books. The E-Poll Book allows precinct officials to check voters in with a scan of their driver’s license or ID card. Going from paper-based to an electronic system speeds up voter check-in, improves accuracy, and helps expedite election night returns.

The Secretary of State has successfully piloted the E-Poll Book program in 2008 and is now implementing it statewide.
