Rules and Regulations for Plainfield Charter Township Parks

1. Parks Hours: No person shall remain within or enter any Township Park between the hours of sunset and 6:00 a.m. Versluis Park hours will be 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. during the months from Memorial Day Weekend through August 28.

2. Injury to Park Property: No person shall obstruct any walk or drive in any public park or playground and no person shall injure, mar, deface or damage in any manner, any monument, sign ornament, fence, bridge, seat, table, tree, fountain, shrub, flower, lawn, playground equipment, tennis court, fire-places, restrooms, or other public property or buildings, within or pertaining to said parks.

3. Conduct: No person shall be drunk or disorderly in Township Parks.

4. Waste Containers: No person shall place or deposit any garbage, glass, tin, cans, paper or miscellaneous waste in any park or playground except for that emanating on the premises.

5. Ball Games: Baseball, football, softball, or other such activities or play may be engaged in, in any public park or other public place, except where specifically prohibited.

6. Advertising, placing of signs: No person without the Parks Director’s authority shall distribute any advertising matter, political or otherwise, from any vehicle, nor post or place any notices, signs or other encumbrances of any description upon any erection, structure, or tree shrub or vines which may be growing or erected in, upon or surrounding any park. Authorized signs shall be placed only where specified by the Township Parks Director.

7. Pets: No dogs, cats, horses or other pets shall be permitted in a Township Park.

8. Golfing Activities: No person shall engage in any golfing activity, such as practice driving or putting upon any park, play field, playground or other public place. This restriction shall not apply to any designated golf course, driving range, putting green or putting course.

9. Combustion powered model planes, boats, and cars: No combustion powered model aircraft, model automobiles or model boat shall be operated or the engines thereof tested in any park or boulevard except at such locations as may be designated for such use.

10. Fires: No fires are permitted except in camp stoves and designated areas.

11. Reckless driving: Speed limits: No person shall drive any vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for safety of persons or property nor at a speed in excess of five (5) miles per hour.

12. No motor vehicle shall be permitted in any park other than on public roads and areas designated. Vehicles left in parking lot after closing time of sunset will be towed at owner’s expense.

13. No hunting, trapping or molesting of animals shall be permitted and no firearms or any other form of weapon including but not limited to sling shots, B-B guns, knifes, and clubs shall be brought into a Township Park.

14. Any person who shall violate any provision of the ordinance shall be liable to a fine of not more than five hundred ($500) dollars or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than ninety (90) days or both.

15. Alcohol: No alcoholic beverages shall be allowed in Township Parks.

16. No motorized water craft shall be allowed.

17. No swimming, wading, or playing in the water shall be permitted in any Township Park, except at locations and times as may be designated for such use.

18. No feeding of water fowl in Township Parks with swim areas.

19. No fireworks of any kind shall be permitted in Township Parks.

20. Any person who shall violate any provision of the ordinance shall be liable to a fine of not more than five hundred ($500) dollars or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than ninety (90) days or both.

The foregoing ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after publication.
