All of Plainfield Charter Township's Parks are open from 7:00 AM to sunset year-round, with the exception of Versluis Park.

Versluis Park's (swimming beach ONLY) hours are 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM. All other areas of Versluis Park are open from 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM during the season which begins the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and ends in August (official date changes each season. Check the Versluis page for more detailed information on the season and any other park changes). During the off-seasonof the year, Versluis Park's hours are from 7:00 AM to sunset.

The Swimming Beach at Versluis Park is open during the Summer months starting on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and closes at a date to be posted at the end of August. Be sure to check the Versluis Park Page for updates about the park

 State and County Parks

County Parks;
Kent County maintains three parks within Plainfield Township.

State Parks
The White Pine Trail State Park is popular year-round destination.  Built on an abandoned rail bed that cuts through Plainfield Township, it is a popular destination for hikers, bicyclists, and nature lovers.

Versluis Park Our grand opening for the 2016 season will be Saturday, May 28th at 11am! The season will run through Sunday, August 14th. Join us for another fantastic summer of fun at Versluis Park!

For a community to thrive, there must be dedicated spaces for recreation. These spaces provide us the opportunity to unwind, destress and recharge. Plainfield Charter Township's Parks and Recreation Department recognizes this and works diligently to support and develop recreational areas and activities for the community of Plainfield Township. In an effort to more effectively do so, the Parks and Recreation Master plan was established and is updated every five years. Plainfield Charter Township maintains several community parks scattered throughout the township.  Some, such as Versluis and the D. W. Richardson parks, are multi-use complexes, however most are simply designed for the enjoyment of our local residents.  Our park system offers a variety of recreational accoutrements, including sports fields, swimming pools and lakes, great fishing, playgrounds, picnic spaces, and beautiful destinations for family outings personal breaks from the hustle and bustle of daily life!

A da Vinci Award winner
for its All-Inclusive design.

Sandy beach with swimming (seasonal), lifeguards, fishing pier, picnic area, playground equipment, paved walking path, restrooms, horseshoes and volleyball.

Park Entrance Fees: $10.00 per car. No walk-ins permitted.

Season Passes:
Plainfield Charter Township residents: $25.00 per year
Non-Residents: $70.00 per year
Commercial vehicles: $3.00 per person

Season passes may be purchased at the park. A Driver’s License is required to purchase a season pass and the sticker must be affixed to the vehicle’s windshield at time of purchase.

 

VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK

A beautiful park with a purpose: honoring Plainfield Township’s veterans.  The Veterans Memorial Park grew out of the corner of Belmont and Jupiter Avenues, which was struck by a small tornado and then cleared of fallen trees in 2001.

One of Plainfield Township's finest and most active parks host to several groups: West Michigan Archery Center (with indoor Olympic-style archery range), Rock City BMX, and Merrell Trails (with 10+ miles of gorgeous mountain-biking trails). The park also features eight baseball/softball fields grouped into two “quads,” each complete with a concession and restroom building; multi-use soccer fields, a sledding hill, fields featuring a pegged base system and flexible fencing to accommodate various sizes, and parking for 400+ vehicles. The Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation Championship Field - a 385-foot fenced field provides seating for 1,000 in covered grandstands, plus a press box, concession area and restrooms Donor Plaza with engraved bronze inlaid bats, baseballs and softballs to support the complex Nate Hurwitz Miracle League Field with custom-designed, rubberized turf to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers and other assistance devices.

3 baseball diamonds, shuffleboard court, basketball, playground and pavilion.  The Plainfield Senior and Community Center is located at the DW Richardson Park.
